Singapore's Changi airport is consistently ranked as the #1 airport in the world, and this is one of the reasons: the Rain Vortex - a huge indoor waterfall surrounded by a very large shopping mall. We booked a late afternoon flight so we had time to explore.

Here on the island of Penang in Malaysia a thunder storm develops late in the afternoon almost every day. From our apartment we can watch them develop and roll in, often with dramatic displays. This shot is a single image taken with a 10 second exposure.

Ever since I saw pictures of the vermilion red gat

Ever since I saw pictures of the vermilion red gateways at Fushimi Inari Taisha in Kyoto almost a decade ago I knew I had to get there to photograph it someday. There are over 10,000 gateways of varying sizes throughout the complex running up the side of a mountain. It's an amazing place to walk around!

If you're in the Coachella Valley area of Southern

If you're in the Coachella Valley area of Southern California head on down to the Salton Sea and Bombay Beach. In it's heyday it was a happening beach community, but in the 1970s the water level started dropping, and it became too saline and polluted from agricultural run-off to make it attractive as a holiday playground. The town has now become more of an artist enclave, with art installations along the dried-up waterfront and throughout the town of 230 people.
