If you're in the Coachella Valley area of Southern If you're in the Coachella Valley area of Southern California head on down to the Salton Sea and Bombay Beach. In it's heyday it was a happening beach community, but in the 1970s the water level started dropping, and it became too saline and polluted from agricultural run-off to make it attractive as a holiday playground. The town has now become more of an artist enclave, with art installations along the dried-up waterfront and throughout the town of 230 people.
